Coconut FAQ
Q: Will Coconut support PalmOS 4 or low density devices ?
A: No.
Q: Will Coconut support CoCo 3 emulation ?
A: Probably not. I do not have a CoCo 3 to play with.
Q: Will Coconut support floppy disks or sound ?
A: Maybe.
Q: Is Coconut based on MESS ? Will source code be available ?
A: No. Coconut does not use any code from MESS or any other emulator. Coconut is not open source.
Q: Why do I get the "No volume found" message every time I start the emulation ?
A: Coconut could not find a memory card on your device. Please see the requirements for running Coconut.
Q: Why do I get the "Invalid or missing ROM file" message when I start the emulation ?
A: Coconut requires a copy of the emulated system ROM file to run. ROM files are NOT distributed with Coconut. After you get the necessary ROM files, copy them to the /PALM/Programs/Coconut/ROM directory on your memory card. Please do not ask for ROM files, since I am not able to provide them.
Q: I have a CAS file, how do I use it with Coconut ?
A: Copy the CAS file to the /PALM/Programs/Coconut/Cassette directory on your memory card. Start the emulation, tap on the Cassette icon and select the CAS file. Type CLOAD or CLOADM and wait the cassette load.
Q: I have a PAK file, how do I use it with Coconut ?
A: Copy the PAK file to the /PALM/Programs/Coconut/PAK directory on your memory card. Start the emulation, tap on the PAK icon and select the PAK file. The program will automatically start. Note that many of the PAK files will fail to load, because of the awkward way PAK were designed on legacy emulators.
Q: How do I copy files to the memory card ?
A: Good question. Palm does not provide any tool to copy arbitrary files to arbitrary directories on the memory card. I use an external USB memory card reader on the desktop. If you have a better solution, please let me know.
Q: How can I help Coconut development ?
A: If you can provide reports on how well/bad Coconut runs on different combinations of hardware and OS versions, it would help.
